  • Dear Club Members,

This years Christmas social will be held at Wells Rugby Club – it’s going to be a full family affair and FREE – all you have to do is bring a plate of food: Savouries, Quiches, Salads, Pizzas Deserts etc and a present for Secret Santa if you are running! Drinks can be purchased at the bar. The date we have chosen – Sunday 30th of December is free of any running commitments so we hope you will be able to come.

     The plan

     1.30PM

Meet at the entrance to Clares factory on the Shepton Mallet road out of Wells (about 200m from the Sherston Inn)

There will be 2 races, both run as handicaps, so everyone will have the chance of winning, including all Mums and Dads who have been doing some jogging in the summer months.

The main event will be a 5k course, predominantly traffic free, with the first runners leaving at 2.00pm. This race is suitable for most over 13’s and some over 11’s.

The other race will be over a 2k course and will be suitable to everyone else.

Don’t forget your fancy dress, as we will be awarding a prize for the best turned out runner.

If you cannot make the Social afterwards, we’d still love to see you for the run.

We have arranged with Wells Rugby Club to use their showers and changing rooms after the run. If you don’t break sweat over something as short as 5K you needn’t worry about a shower – just get yourself over there!!

    3.00PM

Meet inside the Rugby Club for Mulled Wine / Fruit juice and Hot Mince pies on arrival.

Food will be courtesy of your-selves. (Please no sausage rolls – everyone always bring sausage rolls!!)

We will be holding a skittle competition, quiz and hopefully party frolics for the kids, Secret Santa and a Raffle. Any donations for the raffle are greatly appreciated – an ideal way of get rid of that unwanted present/ box of chocs!!! (Bring them on the day)

The bar will be open all afternoon for parents.

We will be doing a prize giving ceremony for the handicap winners and the fancy dress competition.

We will be also holding the draw for our “free” London Marathon place(s). So if you have dreamt of running alongside Paula Radcliffe in our Capital in April 2008 then come along and enter you name into the draw. (Sorry, over 17’s only)

Because of space limitations at the Rugby Club we need to know numbers. Either let John Young or Ian Humphreys know at training, or just send a quick reply to this email.
